Shahi Masjid is located in the Public Gardens, in Red Hills, in Lakdikapul, in Hyderabad, in the state of Telangana, in South India. It is really a majestic mosque in all aspects. It is a popular pilgrimage center that is perfectly located inside the Public Gardens which is one of oldest gardens in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad that was built during the Nizam rule in 1846. This mosque is also known as Royal Mosque among the local people of this region because the last Nizam along with his family members, relatives and close friends used to visit this particular on Fridays and during special festivals such as Eid in order to offer wholehearted prayers with great faith and devotion.

Shahi Masjid Religious Significance

Shahi Mosque is known among the local worshippers for its age-old Islamic tradition and culture that is followed with a lot of perfection. Religious activities and functions are conducted in a royal manner at this particular mosque to a great extent. This mosque can perfectly accommodate only 100 worshippers at a time for prayer but still people gather in its surroundings in large number. This mosque has two kitchens or Niyaz Khanas built on either side. It was constructed in order to feed the visiting poor and pilgrims. Shahi Masjid Architectural Significance

The minarets, columns, domes and arches of Shahi Masjid largely depict the Shahi architecture styles and patterns to a great extent. According to the local legends, in order to understand the actual beauty of how this particular mosque used to be in the past, one can immediately visit the Nizam Museum located at Purani Haveli where an attractive and beautiful model of Shahi Masjid is largely at displayed. The Museum also have certain old black and white photographs that makes the onlookers under stand the architectural and religious significance of this mosque. The beautiful landscaping of surrounding lawns plus pathways that leads to the mosque and other monument structures is really attractive. The other prestigious institutions that are situated in and around this mosque are the AP Legislative Assembly, AP State Archaeology Museum, Jubilee Hall, Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Asif Tennis Club, Jawahar Bal Bhavan and Lalita Kala Thoranam. It is to be remembered that Public Gardens is also known as Bagh-e-Aam. It was built by Osman Ali Khan, the VIIth Nizam of Hyderabad in 1846. It is a historic park located in the heart of the twin city of Hyderabad and Secundrabad. It is one of the oldest parks in Hyderabad.
