Understanding Houses in Horoscope in Indian Astrology

In Vedic astrology different areas of life are controlled by different houses and specific area is assigned to specific houses. According to date, time and place of birth, birth chart is casted and birth chart comprises of 7 planets and 2 nodes namely rahu and ketu, raasi (Zodiac signs) and 12 houses.

According to date and time planets are placed in one of the 12 houses in birth horoscope and planets based on there mooltrikona, exaltation or friendly sign becomes benefic or malefic. Then according to PAC (Placement, Aspect, Conjunction) they become benefic or malefic in particular houses.

Houses and planets in Vedic birth chart give a fair idea of probable potential that any birth chart may have. By looking houses in birth chart and studying planetary aspects Astrologer will able to know how much strong particular house is in birth chart.

Then according to Transits and Dasa Antardasa probable timing of results is judged and then results can be carved out.

Sometimes House is not so strong enough to give benefic results due to bad influence of certain planets on to that house. In that case remedies had to be done like donation, gemstone, and mantra, Puja to make that house string and to bring harmony back in life.

Thus Houses hold very important place in Indian astrology and according to deeds done any birth chart becomes strong or weak.

Houses 1, 5 and 9th houses are called Trine houses as planets in own sign or friendly sign becomes very strong.

Houses 6, 8 and 12th houses are called Tric houses (Dusthan houses) which shows obstruction, disease and dejection in one life.

Houses 1, 4, 7 and 10th houses are called angular houses (Quadrants) and with 1, 5 and 9th houses they are pillars of horoscope.
