Sukh Niwas Palace is located near the Sukh Mahal Lake Area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh State in India. This palace was built in 18the century Ad by the Holkar Dynasty of the Marathwad Regions in Central India. This palace is well known for its haunting reports in the past era and for its underground tunnels linking up with its old palace area. This palace is located in a sonic environment with a lake area. Sukh Niwas Palace Architecture

Sukh Niwas Palace is constructed in blend of Indo European architectural pattern. The entire palace stands on a 5 feet platform. It is placed in the Malwa Plateau, which is about 550 meters above the sea level. This palace is built to cater the summer month's need for cool breeze purpose, since summer is terribly hot here. The location chosen to construct was near by the Sukh Mahal Lake and it provide ample cool winds which flows towards the palace areas. This type of architect is followed by the traditional Vast Shastra followed by Hindus in those times. To take maximum flow of cool breeze, the palace foundation is raised little bit higher than the normal one found in these areas. The entrance on this palace is constructed by a large dome with pillared verandahs. There is wonderful craftsmanship seen on the walls of this palace. There are big balconies and wide terrace areas. The entire palace is covered with a beautiful scenic garden, which has many huge olden trees. On the inner side of this palace, there are breathtaking art works. This is built for the royal peoples and there are royal touches in the India art style everywhere. It has much spacious rooms, large halls, pillared corridors and a courtyard with good ambience. There are many beautifully carved sculptors in stones and woods are found here on Hindu ditties. Sukh Niwas Palace History

Sukh Niwas Palace was built by Raja Malhar Rao Holker in the 18the century. He ruled this Maratwad region of Central India Province during the period from 1731 to 1766 AD. He was a great admirer of art and cultural in his time and created many structures in his fame. This palace was a haunted one in the yester years. It is believed that no one can permanently reside here. The British had a very horrific incidence, when they were staying here. They have encountered many paranormal activities in this palace and its surroundings. It's now only a tale, since thousands of people stay in this palace, when it was made a tourist resort. No such haunting reports or paranormal incidence happens in this modern era. This palace is constructed with a below ground tunnel, which connects its old palace. It is believed that this was used as general passage by the royal and to be used as escape route in times of crises. This palace has hosted the Portuguese in the year 1735 AD. Till 1758 AD, the Mughals tired to capture these areas and this palace. The British primarily seized in the 19th century and occupied it till independence.
