Sri Sangameshwara Temple near Kudalasangama (also written as Kudala Sangama) is a renowned Hindu river side temple and a famous heritage tourist site at KudalaSangama, Bagalkot District of Karnataka State in India. This temple is founded by the Lingayath Community and managed by the Basva Trust. This temple is also a great pilgrim place for the Hindus. It is the most popular and beautiful temple in Bagalgot District for temple architecture and for its nearby scenic locations.

As per the Hindu beliefs, taking bath in a river confluence will wash away our sins. Such as this Kudalasangama is also a confluence of two rivers and the nearby temple of Sangameshwara is a perfect temple to be visited after taking bath in the Sangamam. Many devotees visit here to take a holy dip in this river and get blessings from this ancient temple. The naturally formed Shiva Linga is the main deity and Shiva Rathri is its main festival, were many takes pilgrim to this temple. There are also many sub deities here. Lord Ganesha is placed here who is the son of Lord Shiva. Neelama Devi and Nandhi statue is also kept here for worshiping. It is said that the founder of this temple was the founder of Lingayath community and this is their Kula Temple (tutelary deity). Most of these cast peoples are living here and are the most visited peoples of this temple on daily basis and mostly seen on the daily pooja times, taking place in the morning and evening hours.

The story behind this formation of temple comes from the great scholar named Basaveshwara in between the 11th and 12th century AD. He was one of the students of Jathadeva Muni and after his completion of studies he stayed here and became a sage in the later time. He also thought the ancient puranas. His study center was later converted in to the main temple place. It has got a Linga, a form of Shiva symbol. It was believed that this symbol was not manmade and believed to be a holy place due to the presence of Lord Shiva here. As per the inscriptions in this temple, the construction works were started around 1212 AD when the Chalukayns were ruling here. The Sangameshwara name was kept for this temple since it's near the co joining of two rivers near the temple place. The two rivers are known as the Malaprabha River and the Krishna River. This temple and the Sangamam make this a divine place.

Sri Sangameshwara Temple beautifully located at the backwaters of Kudala Sangamam. This temple is a great stone marvel in the Chalukayan architectural form. It's totally built of granite stones. The main entrance is having a Gopuram (Tower) which is built up to 4 stories hand have many motifs and miniature carving on this tower. Its main doors are having beautiful carving of floral and animal designs on it. The main temple is a cute stone structure having three Gopuras on its top. The main deity is placed properly at the Navagraha place. There are many mandapa's (Porch) built here with a small beautiful dome on it. These are having life size statues of mythical gods and goddesses. The main deity of this temple is not a man made sculpture, but it was believed to be a naturally evolved stone here. Its sub deities are splendidly cared on single stones. This temple comes under the protected monument act and is under the archeological department of India. Recently many concrete walls are built near its water front to stop river floods streaming inside this temple area.
