Moon (Chandra) is the planet that signifies Mother, white things, rice, ponds, lakes, Import-Export Business. Moons also represent mental attributes. Moon holds very important place in Vedic astrology as it is the most vital planet in judging Muhuratha and compatibility charts.

Janam Nakshatra is also based on Moon position in birth chart. When one does not know birth time, chart is casted based on moon position on that particular day thus it can be easily identified importance of Moon in astrology.
