Charbhuja Temple is located in the holy village named Garhbor, in Kumbhalgarh tehsil, in the district of Rajsamand, in the state of Rajasthan, in Northwestern India. It is situated at an elevation of 2,785 ft or 849 m in Aravalli ranges. It is nearly 38km from the town of Rajsamand. It is also situated near the district of Pali with its nearest village named Desuri. River Gomati flows nearby this shrine. It is close to Bor Rajput Garh. The closest railway station is Charbhuja Road station on Mavli Jn- Marwar Jn (MG) section of NWR and Falna on Marwar Jn- Abu Road (BG) section of NWR. The principal deity of this shrine is Charbhuja Nath who is a form of Lord Vishnu. According to the local legends, this temple is strongly believed to be built in 1444 AD by its creator named Shri Gang Dev. It is one of the famous temples of the lord Vishnu in this region. The name Charbhuja Nath is coined to this lord Vishnu because the God has four hands.

Charbhuja Temple Religious Significance

The deity of Charbhuja Nath is regarded to be miraculous. As per the inscription within the temple, this village was called as Bhadri so local people assumed the idol of this shrine is Lord Bhadrinath. Later, it was concluded that the Lord is addressed as Lord Charbhujanath as per Hindu mythology. The primary idol is 85 centimeters high. It is to be remembered that the four arms of the idol perfectly hold conch, discus, mace and a lotus flowers. This shrine is close to another temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu named "Roop Narayan" or "Roopji" situated in the village named Sevntri. Charbhuja Nath temple is largely visited by thousands of adherent pilgrims and devotees during most of the auspicious days and festive days with great faith and devotion. Special pooja and Aarathi is conducted daily during the early morning, noon and evening hours at this shrine. A good number of local people from Garhbor, Kumbhalgarh and Rajsamand plus its surrounding places visit this temple with their family members, relatives and close friends.

Charbhuja Temple Architectural Significance

Charbhujanath temple is in the open space. On the both sides of the entrance, stone elephants are placed with lot of perfection. In the other courtyard, Garud ji is installed. The outer shutters are made of silver while the shutters of the inner temple are made of gold. In the original temple, the excellent artistic work of the mirror is done. The shrine is made of Marble, lime mortars and mirrors. The main sanctum has good work of sculptures with images of local Gods and Goddesses. The flooring is made of marble and the ceiling is made up large sized mirrors.

Festivals at Charbhuja Temple

Charbhujanath temple is known for grandly celebrating all the Lord Vishnu related festivals and auspicious days with religious affairs and rituals. Every year, a large fair on Jhaljhoolni Gyaras is held in this village on Jhaljhoolni Gyaras. Nearly thousands of adherent of devotees and pilgrims come here for devotional worship of lord Charbhuja and get wholeheartedly blessings from all over the India and abroad. The Ekadashi or Jhaljhoolni Gyaras is the eleventh day of the bright fortnight of the Bhadrapad that falls in the month of August/September as per the Georgian calendar. On the other hand, the Hindu festival of colors named Holi is also grandly celebrated. Other important festivals that are religiously celebrated are Navratris, Janmashtami and Ramanavami. At this shrine, special poojas are held on all festive and auspicious days.
