The Kankroli temple(Dwarkadhish Temple) is situated in Kankroli over the bank of the Rajsamand Lake in Udaipur Division of Rajasthan. This temple is well known as 'the temple of Dwarkadhish' as it is the name of Lord Krishna. The temple is of great importance for the Vaishnavas as well as the Vallabhacharya cult. The principal God of this temple has been imported from Mathura which is the hometown of Lord Krishna. Dwarkadhish Temple Mythology & History

It was during the time of the Mughal era, when there were numerous attacks on temples and destruction as well as arson was common every now and then. The activists made temple deities as the first target of their mindless destinations. Hence, the idol of Dwarkadhishji which was at Gokul was basically at stake. There were great tensions of damage to the temple as well as the idol within the temple. On account of this, it was noted that Goswami Shri Girdharji Maharaj flew to Gujarat and took the idol along with him. However, even then the apprehension was not less. After knowing about such adverse situations, Maharana of Udaipur named Shri Rajsingh ji made a request to Shri Girdhar Maharaj and the image was brought to Kankroli. It can be mentioned that the idol was preserved in a nearby village named Asotiya in 1726 BS. After the temple at the bank of Rajsamand had completed its construction, the idol was preserved in that particular temple. Owing to the fact that all this happened during the times of Goswami Shri Girdharji, the building was named after him as Girdhar Garh. After that particular time Shri Dwarkadheeshji was installed there.
