The Sri Hanuman temple is situated on Road No. 1, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad in the state of Telangana, in South India. According to the historians and local legends, it is a very old Hindu temple. It is to be highly noted that the beautiful image of the Deity of Lord Sri Hanuman was found in a successful manner by locals sculpted on the hillock in Banjara Hills. It is around which the present shrine was built. The entire construction activities were personally funded by Sri M.V. Narayana Rao who was a former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh who resided in the adjacent street. It is managed by his family members, relatives and close friends.

Hanuman Temple Religious Significance

In the year 1983, His Holiness the Shankaracharya of Sri Srungeri Matt grandly performed the Prana Prathishta of the Shiva Panchayathanam. The temple main festivals that are marked with special poojas and auspicious religious rituals are held on Sri Rama Navami, Sri Hanuman Jayanthi, Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Kalyanam, Sri Krishnashtami, Dussehra / Vijaya Dasami, Karthika Pournima and Mahasivarathri. The special poojas conducted at this temple are Sri Swamy Suprabatha Seva, Sri Swamivari Vratham, Sri Swamivari Special Vratham, Sri Swamivari Vratham at Dwajasthambham, Sri Swamivari Visishta Vratham, Sri Swamivari Nitya Kalyanam, Sri Swamivari Vratham After 'Pooja' prasadam send through post, Sri Sitaramula (Kshethra Palakulu) Pattabhishekam on the lunar star day of Punarvasu in Sri Swamivari Temple, Sri Swamivari Pavalimpu seva, Sri Swamivari Laksha Patri Pooja, Sri Ammavari Laksha Kunkumarchana and Sri Swamivari Abhishekam on the lunar star day of Makha. The offerings given at this temple are vadamala, pulihira, Dondajanam and payasam. The sevas related to this temple that can offered by the adherent devotees are Rice donation for free food supply, prasadam donation, free marriage arrangement and festival expenses.

Hanuman Temple Architectural Significance

Sri Hunuman temple looks like a rock cut temple on the plain. The idol or wall image of Lord Hanuman is very old at this temple. It looks like a modern temple with primary deity that belongs to the ancient time. The flooring and ceiling of the main sanctum is really very attractive in all aspects. The pillars of the temple are beautifully carved with images of minor Hindu Gods and Goddess. The tower or vihmana of the main temple is moderate in height when compared to other Hindu temples of this region. This temple has all types of modern facilities at the temple premises for the comfort of the visiting adherent devotees.

The temple management makes special arrangements in order to meet the crowd of adherent devotee's religious needs and demands on the auspicious and festive days at this temple. All these said days are marked with special abhisekhams and poojas as per the Vedic rules and regulations. There are special timings for opening and closing of this temple so devotees have to take extra notice to visit the temple in time for getting the blessing of the Lord.
