Karmanghat Hanuman Temple is located in Karmanghat in Saroor Nagar area near Hyderabad city, in the state of Telangana, in South India. It is much closer to Sagar Highway. Under the Kakatiya dynasty, this particular temple was successfully built in 11th century AD. It is an ancient Hindu temple that is about 860 years old. The primary deity of this temple is Lord Hanuman. According to the local legends, this God here is powerful and very famous. The devotees and pilgrims visit from rest of the state and India to worship hanuman with lot of dedication and commitment.

It is nearly 860 year old ancient Hindu temple that still follows the Vedic rules and regulations with a lot of perfection. It is one of the oldest Hanuman temples in Southern India. Karmanghat Hanuman Temple Mythological Significance

According to the local legend, during the 17th century when Aurangzeb conquered Golconda, he sent his armed force to completely destroy the Hanuman temple. When the armed people tried to directly enter this temple then they were strongly pushed by some force and couldn't enter. They mentioned this situation and circumstance to Aurangzeb. Later, he personally came to this particular temple with same intension. When he tried to enter then he heard a voice, "If you want to directly enter this particular temple, make your heart really stronger (Karo-man-ghat)". Aurangzeb requested the voice in order to prove its truthfulness. Then immediately there were bright lights all around plus there directly appeared the form of lord Hanuman. This is how this place coined this name as Karmanghat.

Karmanghat Hanuman Temple History

In 1143 A.D, it was built in a successful manner by the Kakatiya king Prataprudra II. Actually, the king went for hunting wild animals but he became so tired and rested in the place named Lakshmipuram. Then he heard a tiger's roar and searched in that particular direction. He suddenly heard the chant of "Sri Rama". Later, he found a statue of Lord Hanuman. Later he got a dream that a temple should be built. He built this temple in order to fulfill the dream.

Karmanghat Hanuman Temple Architectural Significance

Karmanghat Hanuman temple was under the control of the kings of Kakatiya dynasty. The main tower gateway of this temple is really unique in all aspects. This temple has some additional smaller temples within the complex itself. These temples are dedicated to Lord Rama, Navagrahas, Vigneshwara, Brahmaraba sametha Spatika Lingeshwara, Nageshwara, Durga mata, Jagannatha Venugopala swamy and Saraswati mata. The Gods of Navagraha are largely considered to be largely responsible for the happenings in the personal and professional life. Most of the devotees worship Goddess Durga as this Goddess as very auspicious. In this temple, Lord Anjaneya is regarded as Dhyana Anjaneya. There is a huge pond in this temple where the devotees and pilgrims take a holy dip.
