Kumbhalgarh temples are located in Kumbhalgarh Fort in the state of Rajasthan, in Northwestern India. These temples are nearly 350 years old. It can be easily classified into Hindu and Jain temples. Most of the temples situated at this religious spot are in ruined statues without any idol in it. On the other hand, there are only few major temples that are in a good condition with the idols. The state government along with the central government has restored in a successful manner a few temple but without the principal statues or idols in it. This religious spot is well-known among the domestic and foreign, devotees, pilgrims, visitors and tourists for its religious and architectural significance.

Kumbhalgarh Ganesh Temple Religious Significance

Kumbhalgarh temples are the perfect religious spot where the ancient Vedic rules and regulation are strictly followed with a lot of perfection. The priests of these temples are well educated in religious matters and posses vast experience in this particular field. They conduct daily poojas in the auspicious times as per the schedule in a religious manner. On request, special homams and yagnas performed on festive days and auspicious days in a grand manner at this shrine. These temples are kept wide open for the public from early morning hours to mid-noon and later in the early evening hours to early night hours only. Only on festive and auspicious days, the temple remains open without any break for the whole day for the public.

Kumbhalgarh Ganesh Temple Architectural Significance

It is to be highly noted that during the time of Maharana Kumbha that Ganesh temple was built. As per the inscriptions of Kirttistambha of Chittaurgarh fort, the image of Ganesh was consecrated by this King. It is situated on the road leading to the palace. In AD 1457, the Vedi temple was founded by Rana Kumbha for successfully performing rituals after immediate completion of the fort. The temple building structure is double storeyed. It is perfectly erected on a high platform. The shrine faces towards the West direction. The domical ceiling of this shrine is supported by thirty-six pillars. Neelkanth Mahadev temple was built in AD 1458. It is a Shiva temple with a Siva linga in the garbhagriha. It has very attractive flight of steps. It has a main sanctum plus an open pillared mandapa in its surrounding. It was renovated by Rana Sanga. Parshvnath temple was built by Nar Singh Pokhad in Vikrama Samvat 1508 (AD 1451). The idol of Jaina Tirthankara Parsvanatha is housed in it. Bahvan Devri temple is popularly known for having fifty-two sub-temples around the main sanctum within the temple complex. It is a Jain shrine. These Jain temples have a main sanctum, prayer hall and antarala. The Golerao temples consist of nine shrines which are perfectly enclosed by walls in a circular shape. Mamdeo temple is popularly known as Kumbha Shyam. It consists of a prayer hall and flat roofed main sanctum. Pital Shah temple is a Jain shrine built by Pitalia Jain Seth in V. S. 1512 (AD 1455) on a perfectly raised plinth. The Muchhala Mahaveer temple is known for its unique architectural styles and pattern among all these temple of this region.

At Kumbalgrah Temples, most of the major and minor auspicious and festive days are celebrated in a religious manner. A large number of adherent devotees and pilgrims visit these temples for actively participating in the religious affairs.
