The proper name of Rameshwaram temple is Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple. It is located in Farooqnagar, in the district of Mahbubnagar, in the state of Telangana, in South India. The presiding deity of this shrine is known as Shri Ramalingeswara Swamy. According to the local legends, the Shiva Linga in this temple was installed by Lord Rama. This religious incident happened while Lord Sri Rama crossed through this area when he was in the period of Aranyavasa. It is a sacred place for the Hindus who indulge in religious activities and functions at this particular shrine. It is nearly 20 Kms from Shadnagar on National Highway No. 7 in between Kurnool and Hyderabad and 52 KM towards North from District head quarters of Mahabubnagar.
